Third Thursday is a monthly poetry program in partnership with Poetry Center San José and hosted by Mighty Mike McGee (most of the time!)

Sign up for the open mic begins at 6:30pm. Open mic begins shortly after 7pm. Featured poet performs after 7–8 poets in the open mic, followed by an intermission.

Double Feature with Mason Granger and Brennan DeFrisco!
Mason Granger is a spoken word artist with 20 years of experience on stages and in educational settings across all 50 states and 15 countries. His work centers around matters of environmental sustainability, personal health & wellness, and societal engagement turning words into action, all from an imaginative and forward-thinking perspective.
As the inaugural Poet-in-Residence of the USC Schwarzenegger Institute, Mason is one of Southern California's most engaging poetic voices. He has facilitated countless poetry workshops for all ages and hosted several long-running open mics series, including PoetNY in NYC, Baby Got Bacchus in Los Angeles, and The Prose Bowl in Pasadena.
Brennan DeFrisco is a poet, educator, editor & drinker of coffee from the San Francisco Bay Area. He’s been a National Poetry Slam finalist, a Pushcart Prize nominee, runner-up for the Drake University Emerging Writer Award, & 2017 Grand Slam Champion of the Oakland Poetry Slam. He’s the author of A Heart With No Scars (Nomadic Press) & has served as poetry editor on the mastheads of Lunch Ticket & Meow Meow Pow Pow. Brennan is the Contra Costa County coordinator for California Poets and facilitates creative writing and performance workshops as a teaching artist in schools, juvenile centers, and various arts education programs. His work has been published in Words Dance, Red Wheelbarrow, Drunk in a Midnight Choir, Collective Unrest, & elsewhere. He holds an MFA in Creative Writing from Antioch University Los Angeles.
