Our Feature: J Dana Sanders!

A dedicated and prolific voice in contemporary poetry, J Dana Sanders has written over 600 poems in just two and a half years—an outpouring of creativity rooted in keen observation and a deep appreciation for everyday life. His work centers on observational poetry, capturing moments, emotions, and truths that often go unnoticed, and transforming them into meaningful reflections.

His journey as a performing poet began at the Willow Glen branch of the San Jose City Library, where he first shared his voice with a live audience. Since then, poetry has become not only a personal practice, but a way to connect, uplift, and inspire others.

Now residing in the East Bay of the San Francisco Bay Area, he continues to write with purpose and intention. It is his sincere hope that anyone who reads or hears his poems will be encouraged to reflect, grow, and find a deeper understanding of themselves and the world around them.

Poetry Center San José's mission is to nurture and promote diverse literary expression in our community as a means of exploring, defining, and enriching the human experience. For those under 18 years of age who may be attending, we recommend that a parent/legal guardian be with you during the program.
